Due to the recent spread of the Coronavirus, the closure of other public events/meetings and the increase in cases in South Yorkshire, we have decided to temporarily suspend meetings in person. We will be moving our meetings online, with a link being posted on our Facebook page for those who would like to take part. We hope everyone stays well in the meantime and look forward to meeting again in person when the peak of the illness passes. Sheffield Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Group Annual Report 2019
In 2019: We held 24 Monday Night Sessions, 12 Saturday Lunchtime sessions and 3 Author Evenings. We published one anthology, held submissions for three further anthologies and worked on an RPG game.

Yes, it’s that time again, we’re now accepting submissions to our Ages of Escafeld anthology and this year absolutely anyone can submit! So if you’ve got a short sci-fi or fantasy story bubbling away in the back of your brain, or something from Escafeld happens to spark your imagination, then we want to read your story But just what is Escafeld? Well, it’s a shared world created by our group members and covers everything from high fantasy with dragons and ancient empires, to the urban fantasy of the modern day all the way out to the far reaches of sci-fi in deep space. If you are interested in submitting please contact us for a free world guide, if you have submitted in previous years, our world guide has not changed so feel free to just dig straight into your story.

Well, if you've hung around this blog before you may have heard mention of Escafeld, the open world created by the members of our group. It centres on the world of Terra, and often more specifically the city of Escafeld, throughout the ages. It's a world built to be as open and expansive as possible, you can write pretty much whatever genre you want about the world, everything from high fantasy and urban fantasy through to space opera and dystopian sci-fi.

Who's up for some more short stories from the world of Escafeld? For those that don't know, Escafeld is the open world created by our group and follows the world of Terra, and often more specifically the city of Escafeld, through the ages. It encompasses every genre from high fantasy through urban fantasy and all the way to space opera and dystopian sci-fi. It's split into four ages, the Age of Dreams, the Age of Hammers, the Age of Spirits and the Age of Infinity, each representing its own set of genres and period in Terra's history.
